This German military cemetery outside the village was created after the war by the French military authorities to serve as a collective cemetery. It is now under the responsibility of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (the German War Graves Commission). 10,147 German soldiers killed during the First World War are buried there, including 6,526 in ossuary.
