NATIONAL NECROPOLIS OF LA HARAZÉE
Visit the Nécropole Nationale de la Hazée in Vienne-le-Château, a testimony to the Great War.
This necropolis is located on the Fossé des Grandes Eaux road, off the D67 linking the communes of Lachalade and Vienne-le-Château. It was built in 1915, during the Battle of the Argonne, to bring together the exhumed bodies of servicemen from the La Harazée and La Gruerie cemeteries who fell in the Great War. The necropolis covers an area of 5,530m2 and contains the remains of 1,673 French soldiers (442 of whom are buried in an ossuary). It was completely rebuilt in 1963.
