CAPO PERTUSATO
Cape Pertusato at 100 m high in Bonifacio, ideal for hiking, with a natural gallery, a lighthouse and a semaphore
It's one of the island's scenic gems. Let's explore a pirate beach straight out of an adventure book, or discover a semaphore and sumptuous viewpoints! 5 kilometers southeast of Bonifacio, Cap de Pertusato (Capu Partusatu in Corsican) is the second most southerly point on the Isle of Beauty, just behind Capu Testagro. A limestone tongue, this cape towers 100 metres above the Bonifacio nature reserve and its cliffs. From the semaphore, you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the Lavezzi Islands and the Mediterranean, and even Sardinia on a clear day: a beautiful walk to the Pertusato lighthouse. The name Pertusato, which means "pierced", refers to a natural gallery running right through the promontory on which the lighthouse stands, which is not open to visitors. Then head down to the Plage des Trois Pointes to swim and dive from the rock or practice snorkeling. You can reach the cape by car (in part only) or by a magnificent hike directly from Bonifacio (chapelle Saint-Roch). If you opt for the hike, you'll be walking on cliffs, so you'll need to be careful and protect yourself from the sun, as there is no shade on this route. Allow 3 hours for the round trip. On foot or by car, allow half a day to enjoy the cape, its surroundings, its breathtaking panorama and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
