THE CHURCH OF SAN GIOVANNI-BATTISTA AND ITS CAMPANILE
Pizanic church with a single nave, flanked by an isolated bell tower to the northeast of the apse in Carbini
This Pizane church has a single nave, flanked by an isolated campanile to the north-east of the apse. A second church of the same style but smaller, dedicated to San-Quilico, existed next to San-Giovanni. Its remains can be seen on the ground. This complex was the religious centre of the inhabitants of the upper Fiumicicoli valley in the early Christian period and in the Middle Ages. This place evokes the memory of the "Corsican Cathars" that were the Ghjiuvannali in the 14th century.
