Two facing churches built in the century in Cargèse, one with a fine painting.
Two buildings facing each other built in the 19th century. The church of Saint Mary, of neoclassical style has an impressive trompe-l'oeil decoration. The church of Saint-Spiridion, of Byzantine rite, is decorated with icons, among which the one of Saint John the Baptist, made by a monk from Mount Athos and carried in procession in the city for the Easter holidays. The icons date back to the first settlers, who brought them with them in their exile. TheEpitaphios, a beautiful 13th century painting on wood, is sometimes carried in procession.
