THE CHURCH OF SANTA-MARIA
Romanesque church with lantern tower and remarkable organ in Olmeto
A Romanesque church with a sumptuous Baroque decoration, whose first construction dates back to the 9th century. The church's lavish interior features a lantern tower and a remarkable 19th century organ built by the Stoltz brothers and restored in 1981. The church of Santa Maria was one of the most important and richest parish churches in Corsica in the 18th century. 2019 sees the birth of the Cunfraterna Santa Maria Assunta, a brotherhood made up only of women; the rarity of this congregation makes it a notable event.

C'est l'endroit idéal pour venir écouter les chants polyphoniques Corse. Avec une telle acoustique il y a de quoi en avoir des frissons !
