ST. CHARLES CHURCH
Founded in 1635 by the Jesuits, it is one of the city's oldest churches.
At the top of Via Carbuccia, a monumental staircase leads up to a yellow facade, flanked by two statues of saints in their niches. This is the church of St. Charles Borromeo, one of the city's oldest, founded in 1635 by the Jesuits. Originally dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola, it was granted to the brotherhood of St. Charles Borromeo in 1769. The square and staircase leading to the church are sometimes the setting for summer events. These include the Lektos festival, with musical readings in early July.
