Chapel featuring a rare holy staircase and a marble statue of the Virgin and Child.
Nestled in the Bastia countryside and a 20-minute walk from the town center, the Monserato oratory is home to a rare "holy staircase", covered in velvet and gilded wood, donated by Pope Pius VII in 1816. By climbing it on their knees, the faithful are absolved of their sins. Only the highest places in Christendom hold this insignificant privilege. The oratory also houses a beautiful marble statue of the Virgin and Child, dated 1637.
