To the south of the village of Calacuccia, at an altitude of almost 800 m, Lac de Calacuccia is an artificial lake created by a hydrological dam on the Golo River and fed by a number of smaller streams. It was created to regulate the flow of the Golo, to supply the Sevenzia power plant built on its banks and to irrigate the eastern plain.
