SALT TOWER AND THE CAPONIER
The tower is a former lookout post that was attached to the citadel in 1934, and is now an arched passageway between the quay and the port.
Built in 1495, this imposing tower is a former lookout post where salt was stored. It became part of the citadel in 1934. Today, the extension forms an arched passageway between Quai Landry and the commercial port. The citadel ramparts and salt tower, owned by the commune, were listed as historic monuments in 1992. Since 2019, they have been open to the public. Here, you can enjoy splendid views as well as art exhibitions.
