THE CONVENT OF CORBARA
The Convent of Corbara, one of the centers of Christianity in Corsica, was founded by the Friars Minor of the Observance in 1456.
The Saint-François d'Aregno convent, occupied by the brothers of Saint-Jean, is one of the most important Christian sites in Corsica, and the most important in the region. It was founded by the Observance Friars Minor in 1456. During the French Revolution, it suffered the same fate as other monasteries and became national property. Guy de Maupassant wrote much of his Jésus-Christ here. Pasquale Paoli was a regular visitor. The general public can make spiritual retreats here, adopting for a few days the rhythm of life of the monks who live there.
