A FUNTANONA, FONTAINE-ABREUVOIR
The most imposing fountain in Corsica, it dates back to the mid-19th century and was used as a watering place for herds according to a well-established order. With its three schist arches and six bronze water cannons with dolphin heads, it provides abundant clear, fresh water in all seasons. Captured from a spring beneath the ground, it is drinkable and delicious. Herds no longer stop here, and its use is now reserved for locals and passers-by. There is another public fountain in the village, in the main square.
