U Carrubo is a massive stone building, crowned with arcades, built in the eighteenth century
Another picturesque village monument, U Carrubo is a massive stone building crowned with arcades, built in the 18th century on the initiative of Abbé Ignace Colonna de Leca. According to some, it was intended for a brotherhood of monks. According to others, it housed the needy and served as a school for children. Is its name due to its cubic shape or to a nearby carob tree? The origin is unknown. The building was sold in 1962 by the Abbé's grandnephews. Today, it is the rehearsal hall of the Corsican polyphonic group A Filetta.
