Wedged on a rocky eminence, the small village of Occi is a veritable observatory overlooking the plain and the sea, offering panoramic views. The village's history dates back to the 15th century, when the coast was not safe. Fleeing the Saracens, the inhabitants of a village on the coast at Spano deserted the site and settled on the Occi promontory. In the 17th century, the village declined, so much so that on April 29, 1852, the commune of Occi, with just 62 inhabitants, became part of the commune of Lumio.
