NONZA BEACH
Turquoise-blue water and a magnificent black pebble beach, the result of harmless waste from the asbestos extraction plant at Nonza.
What would Nonza be without its beautiful black pebble beach? This beach is due to the harmless waste from the asbestos extraction plant that was located in Canari, a few kilometers to the north. From 1920 to 1965 this quarry was the main area of asbestos extraction in France. The currents transported the rejected materials into the bays of Albu and Nonza and clogged them up, thus forming the beaches. No fear, walking on this beach would not be dangerous, the asbestos fibers having spent a long stay in the sea, they were washed by the salt.

On the other hand you can still see (Canary) this enormous wart on the west coast of Cap Corse, this former career and asbestos factory extraction. To close the windows and to avoid this unhealthy place. Asbestos is a drama in France (cancer pleura) and I think that particles still circulate in the air in this place. To move, nothing to do…
