HUILE D'OLIVE FLORI
For as long as he can remember, 45-year-old Marc Flori has "always lived in the Netherlands". But this Corsican by origin, has always spent "his summers in Corsica since the age of 12", he says as if to underline that the link with the Motherland had never been broken. In fact, it's almost seventeen years since Marc Flori cast off from the Batavian polders and joined the Isle of Beauty. To become permanently anchored there. Together with his cousin, Christian Bazzoni, ten years his senior, he started out in olive growing. The adventure began in 2004 on a little more than 5 hectares in Nebbio, between Cap Corse and Balagne. Where the ewes had been meticulously feeding on the surrounding vegetation for a decade, the two cousins planted 1,300 trees. Like many Corsican olive growers of his generation, Marc Flori harvests the fruit from the tree in late autumn, using mechanical combs and nets. Flori's olive oil has the PDO Olio de Corsica, harvested from the tree.
