NÉCROPOLE NATIONALE DE SAINT-FLORENT
Nécropole nationale de Saint-Florent, also known as the Tabors cemetery, honours the Muslim soldiers who fell on the Col de Teghime in 1943
The Saint-Florent national necropolis, nicknamed the Tabors cemetery, is home to the graves of Muslim soldiers, mainly Moroccan, who died during the fighting on the Col de Teghime to liberate Corsica in 1943. Refurbished in 1948, the site contains 48 Muslim graves, alongside 170 Corsican resistance fighters. The liberation of Corsica, from September 9 to October 4, 1943, was marked by a mobilization of Corsican patriots supported by the Free French Forces.
