Church built in the century on the outskirts of the village, with east-facing facade
This church is one of Corsica's great Baroque buildings. It was built in the mid-18th century as a watchtower on the outskirts of the village. Its main altar is dominated by the 16th-century altarpiece of Saint Nicolas. The main facade of the church, which faces east contrary to custom, features statues in the round of Saint Nicolas and Saint Pierre. These are among the few surviving 18th-century monumental sculptures in Corsica. The door, dated 1776, is a fine example of traditional carved woodwork.
