THE PARISH CHURCH OF SANTA-REPARATA
Sainte-Réparate church, dating from the and centuries, features polychrome Romanesque architecture.
The church of Sainte-Réparate dates back to the 11th and 16th centuries. Built in 830 on the orders of Pope Saint Pascal I, it is dedicated to Saint Réparate, a Christian martyr. In 1095, it was donated by the bishop of Aleria to the Benedictine monastery on the island of Gorgone. The church was enlarged in 1538, and in the 17th century added a 5-storey bell tower topped by a small dome. Only the apse and a section of the choir wall remain from the original polychrome Romanesque construction.
