One of Corsica's most beautiful chapels, and the most interesting for its original architecture and the preservation of its frescoes.
This superb Romanesque chapel, built in the 9th century, was remodeled in the 17thcentury . It owes its fame to Prosper Mérimée, then Inspector of Historic Monuments, who wrote a striking description of it in 1839 in his book Voyage en Corse. He spoke of a "rare, or perhaps unique form" It has twin apses, dedicated to two saints, Christine and Hippolyte. These can be seen in the chapel's magnificently preserved frescoes.
