BLACK DOOR
As a relic of the Roman era, the Black Gate was a triumphal arch. Built around 175, it owes its name to pollution that has tarnished it over the centuries. However, it was beautifully renovated in 2011 and is now beautiful. In this way, you can see some fine sculptures depicting the deities of Greek and Roman mythology and scenes of fighting. Caught between the buildings of the bishopric, it is pressed over a metre below the current ground level and despite all the péripéties it has suffered, it remains one of the city's representative images with the background, the polychrome steeple of Saint John Cathedral. The oldest monument of the city, the Black Gate is to be seen in the citadel for example.
