Set in 1959 under the influence of Mayor Jean Minjoz, the museum collection has expanded considerably since then. The museum deals mainly with living and organized around three themes: The explanation of the living through the course of evolution, the presentation of the animals thanks to the aquarium, the noctarium, the insectarium and the zoo, and finally the living environment of the fauna by the climatorium which traces the evolution of the climate through the centuries. Please note that an Internet connection allows interactive conferences with the French Meteorological Centre. The museum is one of the museums whose activity is divided between scientific research, the preservation of wildlife and the dissemination of knowledge. Since 1995, he has undergone an important reorganization.
