One of the oldest neighborhoods of Besançon, occupied since the Gallo-Roman era. Until the end of the th century, vine cultivation will remain its main activity, but it will be devastated by phylloxera in the th and th centuries. Not to be missed, Hotel de Champagney (37 th century) at No. of Battant street. On the heights of Fort Griffon, the view over the city is remarkable. A little further at No. 97 is one of the oldest mansions in Besançon (th century). As a follow-up, you will also notice the beautiful 1853 Fontaine fountain. Whether it be to stroll, to go shopping or to visit, the Battant neighbourhood is the area to visit: with its monthly fair and bars, there is always something happening in the Bousbots!
