MONCLEY CASTLE
Built in the late th century by the architect Bernard, disciple of Claude Nicolas Ledoux (see the Salines of Arc and Senans) it was sponsored by Burrow Burrow. This castle is one of the finest achievements in the neo-classical style. The courtyard side facade, of concave geometric shape, objects to the façade of the more feminine garden side with its rotunda. Note that the roof, large climbing, recalls the comtoises architectural traditions of the time. We also love to dream in the ancient French gardens. As the castle is still inhabited, the visits are punctual and check out the tourist office at Besançon. Duration of visit 2 hours.
