The collections present the art and archaeology of the region, but also the economy of absinthe. In the basement, archaeological remains attest to human occupation during the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. You will also see the weapons of the Grande Oye necropolis, the largest Merovingian site in Europe. On thefirst floor, we are told the story of the "Green Fairy" which began in 1805. Banned in 1915, this drink has marked the social and economic life of the region: Pontarlier had up to 22 factories, with 3,000 people working.
