OBSERVATOIRE DU HAUT-PÉRIGORD
The observatory of the Upper Périgord is not located in the commune of Thiviers per se but in Courtigeauds, just a few steps east. From June 21 to September 21 every year, the Friday evening from 9 p. m. or 9:30 p. m., go to the town hall of Thiviers to go and discover the sky from the observatory. The association's animators then offer a complete skies discovery program to the naked eye (main constellations), then to the ocular of the 450 mm diameter telescope or mobile telescopes installed for the occasion. With a high quality sky and large diameter telescopes accessible, the vision of nebulae and galaxies is often splendid! Note that it is possible to bring its own hardware to understand its operation and the first adjustments it requires. As for the Sun's observations during the day, they are rarer and require to contact the association to know the possible dates.
