NOTRE DAME BASILICA

One of Gray's highlights. The construction of this beautiful building, in flamboyant Gothic style, elevated to the rank of basilica in 1948, dates back to the late th century. The architectural purity of the interior requires a thorough visit. The centrepiece of the basilica? A stained glass window with a tree of monumental Jesse, located at the bottom of the choir, behind the master altar. The organ of 1728 of Valentin, transformed in 1758 by Riepp and then in 1834 by Callinet, is also impressive. Do not miss the exploration of chapels: that devoted to Saint Pierre Fourier and his th century reliquary, the Sacré-Coeur Chapel (th century) due, like the previous one, to Grandgirard, which also façonna the tomb of St. Mbavu chapel.
