NOTRE-DAME DE GRAY BASILICA
This basilica houses a statue of Our Lady in gilded silver, offered by Cardinal Mathieu.
The pilgrimage of Notre-Dame de Gray seems to go up at the XVIIe century. A statuette representing the miraculous image of Mary was found in Montaigu, in Belgium. Several miracles of cure occur following the invocations of the faithful. In 1851, the cardinal Mathieu offered to the basilica a statue of Our Lady in gilded silver, as thanksgiving for the end of the epidemic of cholera in Gray and its area. The two statuettes are still in Gray.
