BARON MARTIN MUSEUM
On the heights of the city centre, at the location of the old castle, stands a beautiful typical building of the th century. Surrounded by a charming English garden, the former residence of the Earl of Provence, brother of Louis XVI, has been converted into a museum since 1903. Hundreds of masterpieces at the prestigious origins await you. The largest national museums are indeed tabling works here: The Louvre, the Orsay Museum, the modern arts, the Château de Versailles… Almost thousand paintings and artwork including 80 pastels, a good hundred manuscripts, 130 sculptures, 400 art objects. The museum's collections are varied. On the ground floor, discover paintings and illustrations wandering through carrara, oval lounges and the ice salon where you can experience circles of philosophical discussion from time to time. The gallery on the floor is more contemporary. Finally, immerse yourself in the ancient remains of the Gallo-Roman Haute Saone. All were discovered in the graylois country. Do not hesitate to complete the visit by a walk in the park: stunning view over the roofs of the city and the Saône valley! Note: The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.
