FORGES OF PESMES

The forges were built in the second half of the th century. Very quickly, the activity is flourishing and the iron works made at Pesmes have a solid reputation. A castle is even built to best accommodate the master of the forges. The building is classic, in shape of U with a main triangular pediment. At the rear of the Ognon, the garden has a orangerie. In the Revolution, the forges are seized, sold, renovated and expanded. The high furnaces closed in the late th century. But space is not abandoned, on the contrary, since 2014, it has been home to a cultural area, animated by an association, the community of municipalities and the municipality.
