LES FÊTES DU BIOU

The winegrowers of Arbois offer to God the most beautiful bunches of grapes from the harvest, gathered together in a huge bunch: the Biou. The size and appearance of the Biou bunch (80 to 100 kg) indicate the state of the year's harvest. A mass is celebrated in its honor. It is then hung as an ex-voto on the church vault. A traditional and convivial festival that takes place in Arbois at the time of Saint-Just, patron saint of the parish. For several years now, the people of Arbois have been proposing the Biou as a candidate for Unesco Intangible Heritage status!
