With over a thousand members, the Athénas association takes in wild animals in order to help and care for them. Every year, several hundred animals (mainly birds, but also mammals and reptiles) are welcomed into the center, and almost half of the residents eventually regain their freedom. Falcons are regular visitors, with over eight hundred of them (and five different species). Lynx are also frequently rescued, as are forest cats and hen harriers.
