Here's a walk accessible to people with hearing, mental and motor disabilities. It takes about 3 hours to complete, but is not difficult. The walk takes in the city's key sites.
Starting point: Place des Quinconces. You can admire 2 rostral columns built in 1829 to designs by Alexandre Poitevin.
Then turn right along the quays to reach the water mirror. From here, you can admire the Place de la Bourse, built around 1729, the Hôtel des Fermes and the Palais de la Bourse. The Hôtel des Fermes houses the Musée National des Douanes, open to the public.
Continue in the same direction. On your right is the Porte Cailhau, built around 1494.
Continue along the quays to the Pont de Pierre. On your right, you'll see the Porte de Bourgogne, built in 1751.
Cross the bridge to reach Place Stalingrad. In the center of the square lies Xavier Veilhan's Lion, 8m long by 8m wide.
Turn left onto Quais de Queyries, cross Rue de Sèm and continue along the river. On your right, you'll see the old Orléans train station.
Continue in the same direction to reach the Jardin Botanique natural area. Continue straight on to the Puits. This strange green building houses a library.
Continue straight on to the former Darwin military barracks, where you can stop for a bite to eat.
Continue along the quays to the POLA factory. This site is dedicated to artistic production and is recommended for visitors.
Continue towards the Chaban Delmas bridge and cross it. At the end of the bridge, on the right, you'll see the Cité du Vin. The tour explores the many facets of wine civilization.
Turn left along the quays to arrive at Cap Sciences, an accessible center for scientific culture.
Continuing in the same direction, you'll arrive at Les Hangars, the shopping highlight of the tour.
Cross the Quays and join rue Ferrère to arrive at the CAPC, the city's contemporary art museum.
Finally, return to the quays and walk back to Place des Quinconces, your starting point.
