JEANNE LARTIGUE'S HOUSE
century house in Bordeaux, whose Renaissance façade is decorated with two busts supporting the lower gallery.
Hidden in a small courtyard, itself situated at the end of a dead end street, is "l'houstau de Carles" where Jeanne de Lartigue lived, who in 1715 became the wife of the philosopher Montesquieu. This 16th century house is typical of the dwellings of the time: a spiral staircase, two covered passages (one stone, one wooden) superimposed, where two semicircular arches open. The Renaissance façade is decorated with two busts supporting the lower gallery.
