SAINT-PIERRE DISTRICT
This historic district, which opens directly onto the river, has preserved its artisanal and commercial activities
Historic district open directly on the river, the Saint-Pierre district, which bears the name of the patron saint of fishermen and sailors, was built in the 12th century, when the port was moved further south, but it has preserved its artisanal and commercial activities as the names of the streets show: Bahutiers, Argentiers, Chai des Farines... In the 13th century, the stewards Boucher and Tourny brought down the medieval wall and laid out the Place Royale (de la Bourse), the Rue Royale (Fernand-Philippart) and the Place du Marché-Royal (du Parlement) in homage to King Louis XV. This district has been superbly renovated and happily retains its trading tradition. You will admire the former church of Saint-Rémi, rue Jouannet, a 16th century religious building that has become a cultural space, as well as the 16th century gabled house at 49, rue des Bahutiers.

saint stone reminds a small Parisian district visiting faultless
