Pedestrian square with maple trees, terraces, benches and an original fountain, hosting one of Bordeaux's map-reliefs.
The Place du Palais, in the shadow of the Porte Cailhau, has become pedestrianised after major renovation work. It is planted with maple trees, with café terraces, benches and an original fountain composed of five polished stainless steel bubbles. Like Place Lafargue, the floors are covered with limestone slabs, sawn paving stones and Napoleon cobblestones. Useful for all: the square hosts one of the three relief maps of the city, made of bronze. The project was carried out to make these works accessible to the visually impaired.
