QUINCUNX PLAZA
Esplanade created in the early century on the site of Château Trompette
Created at the beginning of the 19th century on the site of the Trompette castle, the Quinconces esplanade slopes gently down towards the Garonne. The 12 hectares surface area makes it one of the largest squares in Europe, hosting events, concerts, circuses and fairs. At the heart of the square is the Monument aux Girondins, built between 1894 and 1902 in memory of the deputies of the Revolution. On either side of this column, two basins take place with dazzling sculptures called The Triumph of the Republic and the Triumph of the Concord.
