DRIVE FERMIER
The Gironde Chamber of Agriculture has created a network of "farm drives" to offer the people of Bordeaux fresh local produce, sold directly by the people who produce it. Currently, 25 producers and 3 groups are part of the network, which has three pick-up points around Bordeaux (Lormont, Eysines and Gradignan). Consumers can find fruit and vegetables, wine, honey, oysters, snails, meat, poultry, cheese, fish and oil, and the list is constantly expanding. The principle is simple: to receive their groceries on the Friday of the current week, customers place orders and pay for their purchases until midnight on Wednesday directly on the Drive fermier website, with no minimum amount or frequency required. On the Friday in question, the customer collects his or her order from the chosen pick-up point, enabling exchanges and a better understanding of how his or her food is produced.
