Large stone statue, 22 metres long and 11 metres high, symbolizing the strength and resistance of the city of Belfort.

With its 22 m long and 11 m high, it is the largest stone statue in France. The Belfort lion is the symbol of the city, a symbol of strength and resistance and from which Belfort gets its nickname of Lion City. Made in a dominant position by Bartholdi, between 1875 and 1880, as a reminder that the Belfortins were the only French people, along with the inhabitants of Bitche in Moselle, to contain Prussian power. The Lion is located at the foot of the castle in a Vauban fortification complex. In the Lion's shop, souvenirs in the effigy of the lion!

Le Lion de Belfort ou Lion de Bartholdi est le monument incontournable de la ville. Il est situé en contrebas de la Citadelle et célèbre la résistance français lors de la guerre face à la Prusse. Depuis la plate forme où se situe le lion, on a une belle vue sur la ville.

Élément incontournable de la ville. Ce lion majestueux se situe au dessous du château. Symbole de la ville, il tient une flèche dans sa gueule. Possibilité de faire une ballade à proximité.

La citadelle de Belfort est une chose à ne pas manquer dans Belfort ! On à un panorama au sommet juste magnifique sur la ville et ses environs. Des animations parfois très intéressantes. La présence d'un bar et d'un musée au sommet est un plus. Je recommande. Lieu facile d'accès.
