LE CAVEAU DES REMPARTS
This is the favourite place of the musicians of Jazz, the acoustics are exceptional. When the jazz is there, and there, the Cellar fills the places. It is even the only room to regularly program jazz in the north of Franche-Comté. It is in the House of Ramparts that lies in the Cellar. This house was built in 1576 outside the walls by the provost marshal of the town Jean Guyot Lovy, who lived there until his death in 1600. In 1753 the surface of the building was doubled. Around 1824, the State bought the house and transformed it into a gendarmerie. Later, the department became owner before surrendering it to the city in 1976. The municipality will install a socio-cultural centre there. Today the cave of the Maison des Remparts hosts jazz concerts, while the rooms on the first floor serve as exhibition places.
