HOLY TRINITY PRIORY
The Priory of the Holy Trinity, a site classified as a historical monument, offers a beautiful panorama over Beaumont and the Risle valley.
Enjoy a walk on the heights of Beaumont-le-Roger and let yourself be carried away in time with a visit to the priory of the Holy Trinity, a site classified as a Historic Monument since 1916. Take the long vaulted gallery whose wall is flanked by massive buttresses to reach the foot of the walls of the former prison buildings, you will then see the 13th century warheads of the church looming. Admittedly, there are only a few elements of the priory of the Holy Trinity left today, but go back in time a little... Collegiate church built in 1088 by Roger de Beaumont, the priory passed into many hands thanks to donations and other rents. During the French Revolution, the building was partly devastated. The industrial era then passed by, and the site successively became, from 1820, a cotton spinning mill, a ribbon factory and a cloth factory. After a fire in 1855, an unscrupulous man bought it and dismantled it to sell the materials. Many houses in the village are built with its stones. The rescue of the site comes from its purchase by a member of the Institute. Today, the site offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the Risle valley.
