JORELLE
For ten generations, the Jorelle family has been passing on the passion for wood toys. Even today, its ancient games attract small and large ones. The excellence of its know-how is recognized by the Living Heritage Label.
History. It all began, it seems, in 1720 with Gédéon Jorelle, who became master cooper in Gisèle-les-Gisors. His son, Jean, will succeed him. The passion for wood took a new direction with the little Alfred Jorelle, born in Normandy in 1850, who wanted a real passion for wood and decided to do it. In 1864, he joined Edmond Foin at the Inval plant in Neaufles-Saint-Martin to manufacture toys (bowles, bilbows, crockery…).
One of his children, Robert Jorelle, began his career in 1887 in the factory at the age of 8, and stayed there until his death. One of his sons, also named Robert, entered as an apprentice touring apprentice at the age of 13 in 1919. Over the years, the company has taken a certain amount of time by diversifying its activity with barrels of barrels, stirls, tennis racquets…
In 1935, Robert and Aimée Jorelle moved to Bézu-Saint-Eloi, in an old mill equipped with a wheel at dawn, after the factory was sold by its owner. In 1976, in order not to be overtaken by new work techniques, a workshop was built on the artisanal area of Bezu-Saint-Eloi and some new machines were installed there.
The company is still dedicated to the realization of wooden toys and traditional French and European games. Fidelity and rigor make these games pass through the centuries without taking a ride. The quality and techniques of yesteryear guarantee more than centenary of robustness and tradition.
Currently Jean-François - Jean-Claude Jorelle's son - represents the 5 th generation Jorelle creator of wooden toys and toys, and his sons, Carl and Florian, are preparing to continue the same adventure.
The products. The billiard pool says "Abel game", the trim horses, special themed puzzles, bowling games and balls…
