Evreux’s majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral, with its modern organ inaugurated in 2006, is a must-see.
Standing majestically in the heart of the city, Notre-Dame Cathedral was built in the 10th century on the site of an ancient Roman place of worship. Burnt down, rebuilt and then destroyed again, the history of this edifice is an eventful one. The most recent destruction came during the Second World War, when German bombing in 1940 caused a fire that destroyed part of the roof structure and the silver bell tower. Visitors should not fail to admire the modern organ, inaugurated in 2006.
