Museum adjoining Notre-Dame Cathedral, housing a superb archaeological collection.

Adjacent to Notre-Dame Cathedral, the museum was inaugurated in 1873, following excavations in the village of Vieil-Évreux. The establishment thus created became a forerunner in archaeological research as a scientific discipline and in heritage protection. Today, the museum’s superb archaeological collection is made up of objects found during the excavation campaigns undertaken throughout the 19th century!

Dommage qu'il n'y ait rien sur la préhistoire, et peu de chose sur l'Empire gallo-romain.... Du coup une charmante hôtesse m'a conseillé le gisacum....
