A walk along the banks of the Iton, from the cathedral to the belfry, offers another view of Évreux and its historic centre
From the cathedral to the belfry, the walk along the banks of the Iton River offers a different view of the city, especially of the historic centre: along the canals, you can discover the Gallo-Roman enclosure, a restored washhouse, and also, at the corner of a wall, a walled-in English soldier, a reminder of the city’s chaotic history during the Hundred Years War. Don’t miss the water mirror, created during the reconstruction: the Gallo-Roman rampart is reflected in the water with, in the background, the former bishop’s palace, now the municipal museum, and the cathedral.
