PENITENT CLOISTER
This penitential cloister, built in 1946, is a unique site in Louviers, home to the Conservatoire de la Musique.
At the bend of a street, close to the collegiate church, slightly off-center from the city center, we discover a unique place: the only cloister in Europe built on water, the cloister of the Penitents was built in 1646 and has had various uses. Convent of the Saint-François order, boys' school, prison... It now houses the music conservatory. It cannot be visited, but you can discover a beautiful point of view from the street, and during the opening hours of the conservatory, it is possible, with a little luck, to ask for access.
