PARLIAMENT HOUSE
House in the heart of old Louviers, said to have housed the Parliament of Normandy at the time of the Protestant takeover of Rouen.
In the heart of old Louviers, let yourself be surprised by the charm of this 15th-century timber-framed house, so named because it is said to have housed the Parliament of Normandy at the time of the Protestant takeover of Rouen in 1562. The room on the second floor has retained its painted wood panelling. Although the interior of the building is not accessible to the curious, its corbelled facade with sculpted beams is well worth a visit. Rue des Grands-Carreaux is also home to a number of pretty old houses that survived the bombardments of the Second World War.
