THE HALLS
These halls, built in the century, feature remarkable carpentry work.
A true Lyon landmark, the Halles, with its pillars and wooden framework, is impossible to miss, especially as it sits in the middle of the square, flanked by old pink brick and half-timbered houses. Built in the eighteenth century, they feature some remarkable carpentry work. And if the place seems familiar, it may be a memory from the movies that comes to mind: Jean Renoir, in 1932, and Claude Chabrol, in 1990, both filmed scenes from their adaptations of Madame Bovary here, so well has this square preserved its ancient character.
