PARK OF THE CHÂTEAU DE SAINT-JUST
A listed park and remarkable garden at La Chapelle, with grottoes, ponds, plant buffets and beautiful views.
Located a few kilometres from Vernon, the castle of Saint-Just was built at the end of the th century by the family of Croismare. In 1652 the family of Savary became owner. For three generations, the members of this family, Great masters of waters and Forests, create the park. The Duke of Penthièvre, a new recipient in 1776, transforms the property into a resting house for his old servants. Sold as a national property during the French Revolution, the castle went hand in hand. In 1805, Marshal Suchet, duke of Albuféra, handed over the property and changed part of the park in English. The castle has been in the same family since 1884. Today, the property of 13 hectares is classified Historic Monument and Remarkable Garden. During your visit, discover the multiple time dependencies: the dairy, the watering, the caves, but also the vegetable garden. The park is traversed by a magnificent circuit of refined water, adorned with ponds, vegetable buffets, mirrors and fountains of water, transporting between forest spaces and natural terraces with many views on the valley of the Seine. A site to discover!
