PAINTED WALLS

One year after the construction of this new city in 1975, a competition was launched with the aim of encouraging the appropriation of urban space by inhabitants by creating benchmarks, but also the identification of pedestrian streets. The selected works are visible in the «Les Chiens» («Les Chiens»), Sedimentary («Geometric abstraction» of Proweller) and Grande («Cinétisme» of Tomasello). Trompe the eye, evoking the encounter or geometric figures fluctuating according to the light and position of the observer… Since then, other walls were entrusted to artists, to discover in the city. In the chapter of contemporary creations, see also the Astrolabe, by Alain Leboucher, both sculpture 4 m in diameter and solar dial, created in 1991, and the Monument to Memory and Peace, inaugurated in 1992.
